Charleston is always a wonderful place to visit, but weekends during the Christmas Season are especially magical.  Marion Square is full of vendors with their holiday wares.  King Street is closed for all kinds of Christmas activities.  There are activities for all ages.
Arrive on Fridays by 1 PM.  Tour Magnolia Plantation and view the many colorful camellias.  Dinner will be at the Charleston CrabHouse on James Island .  The group will take in the light festival at James Island City Park.  This festival  just gets larger and better each year.

Saturday, following breakfast, tour the Historic District with admission to the Edmonston Alston House, all decked out in its Christmas finery.  Afternoon allows time to explore on your own in Marion Square, City Market and King Street.  Dinner this evening will be at Sticky Fingers BBQ.  Evening entertainment will be at the Charleston Music Hall, with the sites and sounds presented by Brad and Jenny Moranz – “Charleston Christmas Special 2010”.  “A Must See Show!”

“America’s Got Talent! No, it’s not on NBC TV, and it’s not judged by Piers, Sharon and David. It’s here in Charleston at the Charleston Music Hall. If it were on TV, every act would be passed on to Las Vegas.

I’m referring, of course, to the latest presentation by the Brad and Jennifer Moranz Company. Their shows just keep getting better and better, and Charleston is blessed to have them.”
Harry S. Gray Jr, Charleston, SC

Day 1 – Meet your costumed guide in Beaufort SC.   Enjoy an unforgettable experience of Beaufort’s history presented through music, dramatic monologue, and dance. This interactive program lasts one hour and features two or three performers in period dress, the language of the fan, diary accounts, antebellum dance, historical songs, and Broadway tunes.

Continue on to check-in to your hotel for the evening in the Savannah area.  Dinner this evening at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House.

Most Southern towns used to boast a boardinghouse where you could find a simple, quiet room and a communal dining room that offered at least two hearty meals a day. Boardinghouse food was de rigueur daily fare for locals, among them young, working class laborers, schoolteachers, bankers, washerwomen and middle-class merchants alike.

Day 2 – Following a full southern style breakfast make your way into the Historic District for an entrance to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.  Begin the  Foody Tour where you'll learn about Savannah and the South's rich culinary history, while sampling authentic flavors from 7 local eateries that offer the most delicious and unique dishes, including Paula Deen's Lady and Sons.. Your journey may include a delicious tasting of Artisan Baked goods, Shrimp & Grits, BBQ (Chicken, Beef or Pork), Collard Greens, Macaroni & Cheese, Southern Honey Pecan Fried Chicken, Various Specialty Chocolates, Homemade Ice cream, Baby Scones, and Iced-Tea. Most of the locations have been featured on the Food Network, Travel Channel, and Turner South, and now we bring them to you in person. Yum!

There will be a few hours of free time on River Street and then return to the hotel to refresh and relax.

The special dinner this evening will be at the Crab Shack – don’t worry you don’t have to eat seafood if you don’t want to – there are other choices.

In the 1930’s before there was   “The Crab Shack”, these 4 acres of high ground meandering along the banks of Chimney Creek was outfitted as place for locals to put their boats in the water, buy bait, pick up a few “necessaries”  - of which cold beer was one. Over the years, the owners (at the time) allowed a few small camper trailer owners to rent space on the grounds.  The name Chimney Creek Fishing Camp became synonymous with good fishing trips, camping trips, or just sitting around the pot-bellied stove in the concrete block building called the “marina” and telling lies about fish caught…or not. Some locals docked their boats, some used the hoist, but they all stopped in now and again to have a cold beer and tell a tall tale.

The Crab Shack wasn’t a plan. It was a serendipitous happening. But, it has been carefully managed as it morphs and grows so that the ambiance of it’s creek bank location, the lushness of the hundred year old live oaks dotting the property, the freedom of dining al fresco while watching dolphin play in the creek, and the taste of seafood so fresh you want to slap it, will never be lost.  It has grown. Oh, has it grown. Since that first license as a restaurant in 1987 till now, it has outstripped anything ever imagined by anyone involved in the process.  But it is still a little slice of paradise, located just off Highway 80 east on Tybee Island.    Y’all Come!

Entertainment this evening will be at the Savannah Theatre.  The theatre dates back to 1818 and the original building was designed by the famous Savannah architect William Jay who designed the Telfair Academy and the Owens Thomas House.  The theatre is the longest running theatre in North America.  Come enjoy one of the lively productions!  You will be pleased and your clients will be wonderfully entertained.  Available in all months except January.
Day 3 – Following your Buffet Breakfast The group will visit the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum.  The Eighth Bomber Command (Later re-designated 8th AF in February 1944) was activated as part of the U.S. Army Air Forces January 28, 1942, at Hunter Field in Savannah, Georgia. Brig. Gen. Ira C. Eaker took the headquarters to England the next month to prepare for its mission of conducting aerial bombardment missions against Nazi-occupied Europe. During World War II, under the leadership of such generals as Eaker and Jimmy Doolittle, the 8th AF became the greatest air armada in history. By mid-1944, the 8th AF had reached a total strength of more than 200,000 people (it is estimated that more than 350,000 Americans served in 8th AF during the war in Europe). At its peak, the 8th AF could dispatch more than 2,000 four-engine bombers and 1,000 fighters on a single mission. For these reasons, the 8th AF became known as the "Mighty Eighth".  Following the tour enjoy a cooking demonstration and a wonderful lunch in the “Old English Pub” or in one of the well appointed rooms at the museum.

1:00 PM – depart for home.
